Ronald Carl Lorenzen

of Grass Lake, MI, formerly of Chelsea, age 79, died Friday, June 8, 2018 at Henry Ford Allegiance in Jackson, Michigan. He was born February 16, 1939 in Dearborn, Michigan, the son of Harry Paul & Cynthia (Daugherty) Lorenzen.  Ron served in the US Army as a cook from 1961-63. He retired from the Chelsea Post Office after 30 years. He loved working in his yard, which he took a lot of pride in. Ron enjoyed playing cards with his friends and family.   

Armilla A. “Jo” Reule

of Chelsea, MI, age 106, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 20, 2018 in her home. She was born March 28, 1912 in Cloverdale, Ohio, the daughter of Joseph and Frances (Langhals) Wolff.  Jo resided in Chelsea or the Chelsea area for 103 of her 106 years of life. On March 10, 1931, she married William (Bill) R. Reule. During WWII she was a Rosie the Riveter at Federal Screw Works. She was an active member in the South Sylvan Extension Club and served as a judge for many food and craft categories at the Monroe and Chelsea Community Fairs. She and Bill shared a love of reading. They read 2 newspapers cover to cover daily and, at 106, Jo was still reading her favorite Westerns. They were avid gardeners well into their 80’s, growing vegetables from seed to harvest then sharing the bounty with family and friends. Jo enjoyed canning, cooking and baking. She was always making something, if she wasn’t in the garden or cooking, she was working on projects like basket weaving, copper tooling, china painting and so much more.

Julie Ann (Eschelbach) Bolgos

of Pinckney, MI, formerly of Ann Arbor, age 68, died Monday, May 21, 2018 in her home. She was born February 6, 1950 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the daughter of Neil Alfred & Mary J. (Thurow) Eschelbach. Julie graduated from Ann Arbor High School in 1968. On September 12, 1970, she married the love of her life, William Jeffrey Bolgos in Ann Arbor. He preceded her in death on October 26, 2008. Julie and Jeff lived in Virginia Beach, Virginia and Clearwater, Florida before returning to Ann Arbor to raise their daughters. Julie was a voracious reader and news watcher, known for her phenomenal memory and arcane knowledge about any number of subjects. She loved the outdoors and when not working on a landscaping project or doing some sort of household cleaning or maintenance she enjoyed spending her days on the lake or thumping friends and family in horseshoes and cornhole.

Mildred Myra Huehl

Mildred Huehlof Chelsea, Michigan, age 91, passed away peacefully in her home in Chelsea on Thursday, May 24, 2018.  She was born August 5, 1926 in Manchester, Michigan to Clyde and Hazel (Barnes) Gieske.  Mildred graduated from Manchester High School as Valedictorian and attended Ypsilanti Normal College (EMU) obtaining a teaching certificate.  She taught school in several one-room school houses in the Manchester area.  She has maintained contact and a friendship with many of her original students throughout her years.  On August 21, 1954 she married Earl Conrad Huehl and lived at the homestead farm on Fletcher Road.  Mildred has been a life-long member of Sharon United Methodist Church holding many leadership positions, but most noted for her many years as a Sunday School Teacher. She  was an active  member of the Rogers Corners Farm Bureau and Women’s Extension groups. Mildred also volunteered her time to the Chelsea Senior Center. In her leisure time,  Mildred enjoyed needlework projects, gardening, and playing cards or games with her many friends, family and neighbors.  She was always available to help her friends and neighbors tackle projects or lend a helping hand.  She retired from Unit Packaging in Ann Arbor.  

Sandra Ann Brown


of Chelsea, Michigan, age 77, died Friday, May 18, 2018 at Arbor Hospice Residence. She was born July 7, 1940 in Herkimer, New York, the daughter of Ziggy & Vera (Vespi) Cwalenski.

  Sandra was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Chelsea. She worked as a legal secretary for McLaughlin Law Firm for 28 years. Sandra was a member and past president of the Chelsea Jaycees/Jaycettes. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. Sandra enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved reading, keeping in touch with her friends through facebook, and following her grandchildren in sports and daily activities. Sandra was an avid fan of U of M football and their marching band.
