Arthur "Art" Bryant Chubb

of Dexter, MI, age 58, died Thursday, March 17, 2016. He was born January 29, 1958 in Garden City, Michigan, the son of Paul Eugene & Vera Maxine (Smith) Chubb.

  Art was very intelligent, and invented several things for the company he worked for.   He liked the country life, riding his Harley Davidsons, and driving his classic cars.  Art was a very generous person and a friend to everyone.  He loved his family and especially his grandchildren.

 

Augusta M. Sloan

of Chelsea, formerly of Dexter, age 101, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016 in Chelsea. She was born October 2, 1914 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Anton & Winifred (Hart) Schabas. “Gussie”  was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dexter. She helped her husband run Sloan Nursery in Detroit & Dexter.   Augusta was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, known for her gentle soul. She was an optimist, and was very kind to everyone.

Inez Fouty Bunton

Age 71, died Friday, March 4, 2016 at her home. She was born May 15, 1944 in Chelsea, the daughter of Verl & Pearl Flossie (Skinner) Fouty.

  Inez worked at the Chelsea Methodist Home for several years, then worked for Chelsea Milling (Jiffy Mix), retiring in 2007.  She attended Chelsea High School.  Inez loved all sports, especially NASCAR and Michigan Football.  She enjoyed bingo, slot machines, bowling, and fishing trips up North.  

Leland Dewain Snay

Passed away at age 80 in Alapaha, GA on Monday, February 29, 2016. He was born July 4, 1935, the son of Robert and Bertha (Hanselman) Snay. Surviving is one son Michael (Shannon) Snay of Dowagiac; three daughters: Cheryl (Jamie) Batdorff of Munith, Barbara (Terry) Baldwin of Pleasant Lake, and Becky Duncan of Jackson; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, sisters Evelyn DuPree of Ann Arbor and Louise (Walter) Page of Dexter. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Leroy Snay of Arkansas and Dwaine Snay of Dexter.

Richard George Bareis

of Dexter, MI, age 80, died Thursday, February 25, 2016 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ypsilanti. He was born August 16, 1935 the son of Oscar & Wilda (McVay) Bareis. He was born in Chelsea and raised on the family farm in Lima Township.  Richard taught wood and metal shop and drafting for 35 years, at Dexter High School from 1959 to 1966, and at Beach Middle School in Chelsea from 1966 to 1994. He coached high school wrestling, football, and intramural sports.  Richard was a member and lay leader of Zion Lutheran Church, Chelsea.  He was a 4H leader for Rogers Corners Herdsmen.  Richard farmed and raised sheep for 40 years.  He was an avid carpenter and wood carver.
