Katharina Dietlinde Pool

of Chelsea, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Silver Maples of Chelsea at the age of 89. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Katharina  was born October 4, 1928 in Bous/Saar, Germany, the daughter of Johann & Maria (Schramm) Pink. Katharina grew up in Germany. She married Alfred Ritz on June 28, 1948 in Germany, and he preceded her in death in 1985. In 1990, Katharina married Milton Pool of Ann Arbor. They enjoyed 10 years together before his passing on November 10, 2001.  In 2008, Katharina moved to Silver Maples. She loved gardening, traveling, cooking, baking, and entertaining for family and friends. Her home was always open to share life. Katharina also enjoyed community service to local organizations to which she belonged, GBU 630, Schwaven Verein, and German Park.

Michael Kelly Mullens

Michael Mullensof Kalamazoo, Michigan, formerly of Southfield, Michigan, age 49, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at his home. He was born November 2, 1968 in Livonia, Michigan, the son of Harold L. & Susan C. (Wilson) Mullens.  Michael graduated from Southfield High School in 1986. He served in the US Army. Michael worked at entertainment clubs, doing everything from security to management. He was a body builder, going to Gold Gym in Kalamazoo often. Michael enjoyed his time with friends.

Jane B. Korth

Jane Cornelia Blackman Korth passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018 in Chelsea, Michigan at the age of 88. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.  Jane was born on November 16, 1929 in Bridgeton, New Jersey, the daughter of Paul and May (Smith) Blackman.  She grew up and attended high school in Alexandria, Virginia.  After receiving a B.A. degree from Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Virginia, she worked as a secretary at the Pentagon.  Jane married Merrill Walter Korth in 1955 and they shared 58 wonderful years together. Before retiring in 1989, she worked at Johnson Controls in Manchester, Michigan for ten years.  Jane was an avid walker, an enthusiastic reader and a lover of puzzles. She was fond of camping and enjoyed being surrounded by nature.  Jane was a proud member of Manchester United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the Shakespeare Reading Club.  She helped create and maintain the tranquil meditation/memorial garden at Manchester United Methodist Church and her ashes will be placed there beside the ashes of her devoted husband, Merrill.

Mary Alice Rykert

Mary Rykertof Ovid, MI, formerly of Chelsea & Owosso, age 82, died Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Ovid Healthcare Center in Ovid, Michigan. She was born August 3, 1935 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Charles and Fannie (Mawby) Rykert.

Survivors include a nephew, Charles (Judy) Koenn, a niece, Marsha Rykert; and several great-nieces & nephews.  She was preceded in death by her sister, Louise Koenn; a brother, Glenn Rykert; and a niece Laura Castle.
 

Marion Katherine Seel Hackley

Marion Katherine Seel Hackley was born on July 20,1926, in Mineola on Long Island, NewYork, to Louis Seel and Emma Ida (Schultz) Seel, immigrants from Germany. Her first language was German. In the public schools she learned to speak, read, and write English. Her father was a manager of A & P grocery stores, and in the 1930’s he moved the family to Tunbridge, Vermont, to run a small grocery store. Marion walked a mile to a two room schoolhouse. She remembered her mother becoming a U. S. citizen, wearing a dress she had sewn of red, white, and blue. The family regarded themselves as Americans with a German background.
