James Edward Bates
of Manchester, MI, age 52, died suddenly from a stroke on Sunday, May 1, 2016 in Columbus, GA. He was born October 9, 1963 in Los Angeles, California, the son of Grover Bates and Alice (Hill) Seaton. Mr. James Bates served in the Army for 21 years. During his career he served overseas in Germany and Korea. His assignments include duty with the 2d Armored Division (Forward), the Nation Training Center, the Berlin Command, the 82d Airborne Division, the 2d Infantry Division and the XVIII Airborne Corps Special Troops Battalion. Jim retired as a Master Sergeant and continued serving as a civilian until the time of his death.

of Chelsea, age 86, died Monday, April 25, 2016 at Silver Maples of Chelsea. He was born December 23, 1929 in Ann Arbor, the son of Paul G., Sr. & Martha (Groggel) Schaible.
of Chelsea, MI, formerly of Sanford, NC, age 92, died Friday, February 26, 2016 at the Chelsea Retirement Community. He was born August 16, 1923 in South Bend, Indiana, the son of Vernon & Helen (McVeigh) Miller. Philip served in the US Navy during WWII and flew air/ sea rescues. He went to Tri-State University in Angola, Indiana. Philip loved being a traveling salesman until his retirement in 1977. He and Freda lived in Sanford, NC, where he loved to golf and loved being in the Country Club. He attended the United Methodist Church. Philip enjoyed fishing, traveling, and football, especially U of M. He was a talented photographer, and took pictures at many weddings.
