formerly of Munith, MI, age 95, died Friday, May 1, 2020 at the Chelsea Retirement Community due to complications from COVID 19. She was born October 20, 1924 in Brownville, Minnesota, the daughter of Matt & Francis (Hartel) Mollner. Helen was best known as the “Garage Sale Lady”. Everyone will miss her freezer jam her cakes, and especially her cereal cake.
On Dec. 23, 1945, Helen married Hiram Brainerd in Ecorse, Michigan and he preceded her in death in 1967. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Michael, and ten brothers and sisters.
Marie Therese O’Connor McNeely quietly slipped away on April 23, 2020, returning to God’s heavenly embrace. Born in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan in September of 1928 to Joseph L. and Mary M. “Mayme” (Murphy) O’Connor, Marie grew up in Farmington, Michigan, and attended St. Joseph Academy, a Catholic boarding high school for girls in Adrian, Michigan. She pursued higher education at the Detroit Institute of Technology, earning a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, and leading women in the profession as one of the first female Registered Pharmacists in 1950. During her career, Marie worked at several retail pharmacies and the pharmacy in Mott Children’s Hospital.
Of Ann Arbor, Michigan, formerly of Whitmore Lake & Mancelona. Age 95, died Thursday, April 30, 2020 at Brookdale Senior Living in Ann Arbor. She was born January 10, 1925 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the daughter of Frederick & Daisy (Edwards) Altenbernt. Katherine worked at Dapco in Dexter, Ulrich's Bookstore in Ann Arbor, the IGA in Dexter, and she also cleaned houses. She was a member of the Dexter Seniors and was part of several card game groups with the Chelsea Seniors. Katherine enjoyed sewing and gardening; and drove a lot as she liked to travel and go camping with her family.
Gerald “Jeri/Jerry/Jere” Tartoni was born on September 9, 1941, to Helen (Lazzeri) and Guiseppe “Joe” Tartoni. He took his final bow on April 21, 2020. In his life, Jeri took the road less traveled. After graduating from Bentley High School in Livonia in 1959 he married and started his family at the same time as he pursued his college education. He graduated from Eastern Michigan University majoring in political science and philosophy and earned an accelerated fellowship at Wayne State University.
