Rosemary Bendon

of Chelsea, MI, formerly of Sterling, IL, age 88, died peacefully with her daughter at her side on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Chelsea Retirement Community.  She was born December 2, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of William & Delpha (Russell) Gerhart.  Rosemary moved to Chelsea in 2003, coming from Sterling, IL.  She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. Rosemary worked as a realtor, and volunteered at Community General Hospital in Sterling, IL. She resided at CRC since 2003 where she worked in the gift shop for a few years. Rosemary was an avid reader.  Thanks to Chelsea Library volunteers!

Michael John Zettelmaier

Michael John Zettelmaier, age 51, died Thursday, June 16, 2016 in Tavares, FL. He was born July 7, 1964 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the son of John L. Zettelmaier & Marie C. Warner.  Mike graduated from Gobles High School in 1983, where he was a trombone player in the Gobles Marching Band. He enjoyed boating, fishing and motorcycles. His death was attributed to the long-term complications of previous injuries and surgeries.

Donald W. Wyche

of Chelsea, age 77, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, while holding Charlotte’s hand. He was born June 1, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Harry and Ruth (Binney) Wyche. Don graduated from Lapeer High School in 1956. He attended the University of Michigan and also Bemidji State University in Minnesota during the late 1950's and early 1960's, where he played tuba in the marching band and studied math. Don was a computer consultant working for the Astronomy Department at the University of Michigan, for Interface Systems, Inc, for GM, and mainly for ADP. Don was a sailor, bridge player and wine aficionado, with a wine cellar that was both envied by and shared with friends. He was a fine host and a very social man. In the 1970's and 80's Don sang in the U of M Choral Union and, more recently, in the Silver Maples Choir. Don loved to travel; he and Charlotte traveled the world and especially enjoyed Italy.

Edward Leo Weyman

of Chelsea, formerly of Cincinnati, OH, age 89, died Sunday, June 12, 2016 at his home. He was born October 14, 1926 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Albert & Amelia (Dames) Weyman. Ed graduated from St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati.  He served in the US Army in Panama during WWII.   After the war, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Xavier University in 1951,  and also attended the University of Cincinnati, where he met his wife, Gloria.   He worked for Western Printing Company, Clark Trucking and Rigging, and owned an antique & gift store in Metamora, Indiana.  Ed was a member of St. Aloysisus Gonzaga in Cincinnati, 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and the Hamilton County Farm Association.

Janet S. Steere

Janet Steereof Chelsea, Michigan, formerly of Birmingham / Bloomfield Hills, age 95, died Monday, June 6, at Chelsea Retirement Community.  She was born January 22, 1921 in Mayfield, Michigan, the daughter of Harry R. & Marion (Gibbs) Sargent.   Janet graduated from Traverse City High School in 1937 and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from U of M in 1942.  She lived at Martha Cook dorm for 3 years while at U of M, and was an active alumna, attending their 100 year anniversary last October, where she was the oldest alumna present.  After graduating, Janet worked for the Michigan Children's Aid Society in Marquette.  She raised her family while staying on the Board of the Children's Aid Society.  She was active in the United Methodist Church in Birmingham, and spent the last 15 years at Chelsea Retirement Community. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, and very active in choirs throughout the years.  Janet was a bird lover, and enjoyed family vacations at Arbutus Lake.  She was an avid reader, and ran the CRC Book Club.
