Steven Wayne Hofmeister

Age 56, went to be with the Lord, Friday, October 16, 2015 at his home. He was born June 5, 1959 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the son of Everett Wayne & Martha J. (Shanklin) Hofmeister. Steve graduated from Huron High School in 1977, where he played football. He was a cook, at various places including Denny's in Ann Arbor, Gina's Cafe, and TA on Baker Road. Steve was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Even on a personal level he enjoyed cooking and making food for others. Steve was an avid U of M football and basketball fan.

Charlotte Ann (Houston) Anderson


of Chelsea, Michigan, age 77, died Friday, October 9, 2015 at Chelsea Retirement Community due to complications of carcinoid carcinoma. She was born November 24, 1937 in Kirksville, Missouri, the daughter of Paul & Luella (Meyer) Houston.   Charlotte was a very passionate person who always threw herself into things 110%.  She had three main passions in life. First was helping hearing-impaired children, including her son Paul.  She earned a Masters Degree in Special Education from EMU focusing on hearing impairment.  She taught deaf children at Wines School in Ann Arbor.  Second, she fell in love with the American West at a young age, and especially loved the Two Grey Hills Trading Post on the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico.  Third, she was very active in the Spinner’s Flock of Ann Arbor, and enjoyed encouraging young people to spin and weave natural fibers, and to carry on the craft.  

Paula Jeanne Wilson

of Belleville, MI, formerly of the Chelsea/Dexter area, age 67, died Sunday, October 4, 2015 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. She was born May 8, 1948 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the daughter of Richard William  & Betty (Sadler) Wilson. Paula was a member of the Ann Arbor Eagles #2154 for 20 years, where  she worked as a waitress and bartender.

Minnie Mae Erskine

of Chelsea, Michigan, formerly of Moran, MI, age 85, died Sunday, October 4, 2015 at her home. She was born April 14, 1930 in Monroe, MI, the daughter of Kenneth R. & Harriet J. (Stofer) Piatt.
   Minnie graduated from Chelsea High School in 1948.  She worked in the test kitchen at Chelsea Milling Company for many years, retiring in the early 1980s.  Minnie attended the First United Methodist Church in Chelsea.  After her retirement, she moved to Moran, MI, then came back to Chelsea in 2013.   She was an avid reader.

Kathryn Edith (White) Nilsen

of Grass Lake, Age 70, died Saturday, October 3, 2015 at the University of Michigan Hospital. She was born December 28, 1944 in Chelsea, Michigan, the daughter of Arthur & Maxine (Irwin) White. Kathy loved her family, friends her church and the Lord. She also loved history and researching things! She researched her family history, gardening tips, the Bible pretty much anything she wanted answers to. She was kept going by her loving family (especially 3 sweet granddaughters) friends and her church.
