David Charles McLaughlin

It is with great sorrow we announce the death of David C. McLaughlin of Chelsea, MI. He passed away unexpectedly on May 27, 2022 at the age of 78 in his beloved hometown. David was an adored husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and attorney. He was born in Chelsea, MI on March 6, 1944, son of Jean F. (Dancer) McLaughlin and Russell A. McLaughlin.

He is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 50 years, Jane Marie McLaughlin; loving father of Christine (Drew) Hazelton of Oak Park, CA, Elizabeth (Matthew) Ehrhard of Vero Beach, FL, and Damon (Kimberly) McLaughlin of Spring Lake, MI; treasured grandfather of Elle & Peri Hazelton, Malone Ehrhard, and William & George McLaughlin; brother of James O. McLaughlin of Harbor Springs, MI and brother-in-law Gordon Starr of Columbus, IN; uncle to several nephews and nieces.

Gordon Byron Peterson

Of Highland Township, Michigan
7/17/1941 – 11/29/2021

A devoted husband, loving father and cheerful friend who always had a story, taps has sadly played for Gordon Peterson on 11/29/2021. Formerly of Hartland, Kingsville Ont, Oxford and Detroit, he was the son of Alfred H. and Elinor Byron. Gordon attended Cranbrook and graduated from Mumford High School. He is survived by his wife of over 60 years Kathy, three sons, Kurt (Suzette), Mark (Tammy), and John (Lisa), daughter Sheri (Scott), and grandchildren Mellisa, Alisha, Damian, Nolan, Connor and Blake and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Thelma, Alfred (Bud), and Phyllis.

Jane Helen Finkbeiner

of Dexter, Michigan, age 93, died Sunday, May 8, 2022, at Hampton Manor in Whitmore Lake. She was born June 29, 1928, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the daughter of Glea W. & Helen L. (Bauer) Whipple.  

Jane was baptized at St. John's United Church of Christ, but her family moved to St. Andrew's United Church of Christ in Dexter, where she was confirmed and was still a member. Jane loved her St. Andrew's church family and was a very active member. She graduated from Ann Arbor High School in 1945, and worked for Goodman's Factory in Chelsea, for Everbaugh's store in Ann Arbor, and then worked for Deloitte CPA firm in Ann Arbor for many years. Jane was active with Chelsea Senior Citizens and was a Red Hatter.

George William Lewis Jr.

Age 82, peacefully left the loving arms of his family at his Dexter, Michigan home on May 18, 2022. George was born on February 29, 1940 to George and Nellie (Kuzyk) Lewis in Detroit Michigan. He was raised in Dearborn where he graduated from Fordson High School in 1958. He attended Wayne State University on a full music scholarship. George was a talented drummer and played with various bands throughout the 1960’s.  George fell in love with and married Mary Louise Hersman in September of 1960, and they had three children before Mary Lou’s untimely death at the age of 34. Undaunted, George married Barbara Cooper in 1975 and Jacquelyn Bailey in 1987. Both marriages ended in divorce, but George cherished the good relationship he had with his stepchildren.

George’s career in the auto industry spanned decades. He worked his way up to engineering supervisor at the Ford Ypsilanti Plant, and in 1991 he moved to Budapest, Hungary to open a parts manufacturing plant in Szekesfehervar, Hungary. His team made distributerless ignition coils. George was very excited and proud of his work there. Whilst in Hungary, George met the love of his life, Eszter Cukor, who also worked for Ford, and they were married in 1995 in Budapest.

Milan R. Hermon

Age 92, of Port Charlotte, FL, formerly of Chelsea, MI, died Friday, May 6, 2022 at Venice Hospice House. He was born March 28, 1930 in Gilboa, Ohio, the son of L.D. & Hazel (Rager) Hermon. Milan was an active member of the Chelsea First United Methodist Church. He volunteered at the Chelsea Retirement Community, Faith In Action, Red Cross Blood Drives, and Lee Memorial Hospital in Ft. Myers, FL. Milan moved to Chelsea in 1975 from Lima, Ohio where he and Kathryn had resided for many years. He moved to Florida after Kathryn died.
