Chelsea, Michigan, age 96, died Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor. He was born March 31, 1920 in New York, New York, the son of Maurice & Kate (Adler) Botwin. Stuart was an electronics engineer at John Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. He lived in Silver Spring, Maryland for 65 years, before moving to Chelsea. Stuart was one-of-a-kind, with an artistic side. He enjoyed creating his own animation, charcoal drawing, and baking his own bread. He was a member of the movie club group and humor club in Maryland. Stuart was the most easy-going person you could meet.

On July 10, 1943, he married Elaine Joseph, and she survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Judy (Bill) Brown, Karen (Mark) Slutsky; a brother, Kenneth Bonwit; three grandchildren, Simon Slutsky, Deborah (Ben) Sherwin, Dan Blethen; and six nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Julia Wecksler, and Shirley Krause.

Friends and family will gather Saturday, November 5, 2-4 pm at Towsley Chapel, CRC, Chelsea.
