Obituaries

Chelsea, Michigan, age 86, died Monday, October 31, 2016 at his home. He was born December 11, 1929 in Detroit, the son of Stanley E. & Harriet (Tanner) Staffeld Sr.  Stan served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953. He graduated from the University of Chicago with a Bachelors in Mathematics. Stan became a Registered Professional Engineer, and spent most of his career at Chrysler, retiring as a Chief Engineer in Charge of all technical computing. He was active in Chelsea's Friends of the Library, and a charter member of the Chelsea Adult Learners Institute.

On February 16, 1951, he married  Dorothea “Dottie” Vermillion in Detroit, and she survives. Other survivors include two sons, Karl of Chelsea and Peter (Leslie) of Center Valley, PA; and a sister, Susanna Chase of Olympia, WA.

Following his wishes, no services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of Chelsea District Library. Arrangements by Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea.
