Our beloved Dixie, age 80, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2016 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor. She was born January 19, 1936 in Ada, Ohio, the daughter of Harold & Ada E. (Rudd) Rowe. Dixie graduated from Chelsea High School in 1953. She worked in the office at Chelsea Milling, and then Heydlauff's Appliance for 40 years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Dixie liked to travel, especially in Northern Michigan with her family.
On September 4, 1954, she married Jerry Wenk in Chelsea, and he survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Sarah (William) Ball of Chelsea; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Scott), Matthew (Lennie Jo), Christina, and Frank; four great-grandchildren, Kayla, Tyler, Samantha, Willow; and many nieces and nephews. Dixie was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Callan; her mother, Ada Luckett; father, Harold Rowe; step-father, Clyde Luckett; and siblings, Teddy Rowe, Norris Rowe, and Roma Jean Salyer.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 2, 11:00 am at Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea, with Rev. Ann Salyer and Pastor Anthony Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Chelsea. The family will receive friends Tuesday 5-8 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Covenant Church of Chelsea.
