Joann E. Fales of Dexter, Michigan, formerly of Livonia and Royal Oak, age 63, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Angela Hospice in Livonia. She was born December 18, 1962, in Livonia, Michigan, the daughter of Alex Hector and Mary S. (Kopanakis) Carayannopoulos.

Joann attended the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church for most of her life. She attended the Greek school there, was on their basketball team and worked the festivals. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communication. Joann worked with Philoptochos, a Greek ladies charity organization; and enjoyed other volunteer work. She was a painter, weaver, and graphic artist.

Joann married Kevin Brent Fales on October 21, 1990, at Holy Cross Orthodox Church in Farmington, and he survives. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Alexander, Nathan, Aaron, Stina, Megan, and Amber; and was Godmother to Alexander and Zachary. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Alex Carayannopoulous II.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 13, 2026, 11:30 a.m. at Cole Funeral Chapel in Chelsea, with Pastor Jeff Crowder officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove East Cemetery in Chelsea. The family will receive friends Tuesday, before the service, from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.
