Obituaries

of Ann Arbor, Michigan, age 44, passed away unexpectedly Friday, July 25, 2025. He was born January 29, 1981, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the son of Woodrow Forrest Loy and Kimberly Leigh Gilbertson.

Joey attended Ann Arbor Pioneer High School. He and his father owned Loy's Automotive Detailing in Howell, which they started from scratch together in August of 2016. Joey was part of several PS5 online gaming groups, his favorite game being Call of Duty. He loved playing disc golf at Hudson Mills Metropark and Bandemer Park. Joey was a very loving and caring man, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and family.

Joey married Chrystal Lee Sager on June 4, 2011, and she survives. He is also survived by his parents; his children, Joshua, Damien, and Amira; and many “brothers” and friends.

The family received friends Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Cole Funeral Chapel in Chelsea. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Joey’s family.

Hey Joey I know you grew up with my dad and I spilled my heart out to you a few times I've watched your kids af the park I've joined you guys for fires you would come to my job at McDonald's and get food you were like a 2nd dad to me sure I met u when.i was 11 but you saw the pain in my eyes I dont know how a good man like you could leave us way to early to his family : I know its gonna be hard I've been there just take it one day at a time it will get better not soon because healing takes a lot of time and effort just take things slowly and keep an eye on the kids because you never know what someone else is going through and coming from someone who was depression just watch for those signs and I'm sorry you guys lost him so soon in your lives he was a great man and I will not let a day pass were I don't think of all of you guys because I watched those kids grow up maybe from a far but I love all of you guys just take breaths and it will be ok one day

Im sorry I never had the pleasure of knowing Joseph personally but I do know he had great pride in our neighborhood and protecting the children's safety. I'll keep his beautiful family in my prayers.
