of Chelsea, Michigan, formerly of Dexter, age 100, died Saturday, March 1, 2025 at the Chelsea Retirement Community. She was born November 14, 1924 in Goodrich, MI, the daughter of Merle & Mary (Jordan) Kurtz.
Evelyn started college at Michigan State, then transferred to Western Michigan, where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. She went to work at the University of Michigan as the Promotions Coordinator for the U of M’s Division of Management Education where she worked for 28 years before retiring.
During retirement, she spent many hours volunteering at Chelsea Hospital. She was an avid golfer, an accomplished pianist and loved to play Bridge.
Evelyn married Charles Ferguson North on November 11, 1945 at Peoples Church in East Lansing, and he preceded her in death on October 3, 2008. Survivors include two sons, Bruce Charles (Susan) North and James Russell (Andrea) North, both of Dexter; 5 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathryn Susan North Herrera in 2008.
A private service will be held by the family.
