of Chelsea, Michigan, formerly of Port Huron, Livonia, West Bloomfield, and Canton/Plymouth, age 90, died Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Chelsea Retirement Community. She was born November 12, 1934, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of William & Sadie Flowerday (Tapley).
Rosemary grew up in Michigan. She earned her master’s degree in early childhood education from Oakland University and taught at Isbister Elementary School in the Plymouth/Canton public schools for 27 years. Rosemary was an active member of the Plymouth First United Methodist Church from 1985 to 2016, and the Chelsea First United Methodist Church since 2016. She enjoyed crafts of many kinds and was a talented pianist.
Rosemary was married to George Alexander, who preceded her in death and to Walter Jones, who also preceded her in death. She is survived by her four children; Hope Alexander of Chicago, Illinois, Mark Alexander of Marquette, Matthew (Susan) Alexander of Watertown, Tennessee; and John (Rebecca) Alexander of Clarkston, as well as two step-children Shirley (Robert) Mitchell of Adrian, MI, and Margaret Lattimore of Northville, MI; sister, Ann (James) Goff of Tucson, Arizona; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 8 step grandchildren, 5 step great-grandchildren and 3 nieces and nephews. In addition to George and Walter, she was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Charles Max (Esther) Flowerday, and step-sons John (Rachel) Jones and Michael (Karen) Jones.
A memorial service was held Saturday, February 22, 2025, 11 a.m. at the Plymouth First United Methodist Church, 45201 N Territorial Rd in Plymouth, followed by a lunch at noon. Memorial contributions may be made to Chelsea First United Methodist Church, UMRC-Porter Hills Foundation, or the Methodist Children's Home Society.
