Of Ann Arbor, MI, formerly of Wyandotte, age 82, died Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Beaumont Hospital in Farmington. She was born October 10, 1940 in Wyandotte, Michigan, the daughter of Charles David and Mary Agnes (Carmody) McGrath.
Kathleen attended the First Presbyterian Church in Ann Arbor. She worked for the Ann Arbor Public Schools Administration and retired in 2009.
On July 9, 1976, she married Frederic M. Thompson Sr. in Ann Arbor, and he preceded her in death on May 30, 2010. Survivors include four sons, William Kakoczky of Ann Arbor, Albert Kakoczky of Ann Arbor, Frederic Thompson Jr. (Amy) of Shelby Township, Robert Thompson of Dexter; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; nineteen nieces and nephews; sister, Rita (McGrath) Friend of Sun City Center, Florida, and her uncle, Thomas McGrath of Gibraltar. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, John Kakoczky, and one brother, Charles McGrath.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 14, Noon at Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea, with Deacon Tom Franklin officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Ann Arbor. The family will receive friends from 9-noon. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Fabian Catholic School in Farmington Hills or the Ann Arbor Meals on Wheels program 3621 S.
