Phyllis Diane Alber

 of Chelsea, Michigan formerly of Ann Arbor, age 89, died Sunday, June 5, 2022 at Chelsea Retirement Community.  She was born August 27, 1932 in Chelsea, Michigan, the daughter of John J. and Georgia (Russel) Munro. On July 26, 1952, she   married Wayne Alber in Ann Arbor.  He preceded her in death on August 13, 1988.  She is survived by her son Dan (Lynda) Alber of Manchester, daughters Linda (Steve Hoelscher) Bennink of Battle Creek, Diane (Tom) Boozer of Rockford and Betsy (Jeff) Fisher of Sarasota, FL; 8 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

After raising her children, Phyllis worked for 25 years as the “smiling face” of an Ann Arbor dentist office and then moved to Homosassa, Florida where she spent 16 years enjoying warmer weather near  many friends.  In 2010 she moved back to the Ann Arbor area to be close to her children and grandchildren.

Roberta Hartwell Anderson

Roberta Hartwell Anderson, age 93, died May 28, 2022 at Silver Maples in Chelsea. She was born February 8, 1929, in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Robert R. and Mabel (Hargrove) Hartwell. Roberta graduated from North Dakota State University in 1951 and was married to Edwin F. Anderson that same year. Roberta loved her home and homemaking. Roberta was very active in her church and community for most of her life. She served leadership positions in the Methodist churches in Dearborn, Michigan and Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She also taught Sunday School and was Junior High youth leader. She was on the Speaker's Bureau of the League of Women Voters (Welfare Reform). For many years she was active with a social worker in southeast Dearborn where she was a member of the Southeast Dearborn Community Council. This was one of her favorite memories of volunteer work. Roberta served as president of her P.E.O. Sisterhood chapter and president of the Dearborn Junior Winter Study Club. Roberta enjoyed playing bridge and traveling with her husband.

Ronald Charles Hopp

of Chelsea, Michigan, age 84, died Sunday, May 29, 2022, at the Pines in Chelsea, with his family at his side. He was born September 2, 1937, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the son of Charles King & Virginia A. (Rowe) Hopp.  Ron graduated from Ann Arbor High School class of 1955. He went to work at Eastern Airlines in 1956, and worked there until they closed in January of 1991. Ron then got his Real Estate License and worked for Chelsea Reality. He worked for Motorwheel Corp. in Ypsilanti before moving to Florida in 1997. Ron worked for Ocean Reef in Key Largo, FL until his retirement in 2007. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Chelsea. Ron was also a member of the Chelsea Senior Center and volunteered with the meals on wheels program at the Pines. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting and fishing.

David Charles McLaughlin

It is with great sorrow we announce the death of David C. McLaughlin of Chelsea, MI. He passed away unexpectedly on May 27, 2022 at the age of 78 in his beloved hometown. David was an adored husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and attorney. He was born in Chelsea, MI on March 6, 1944, son of Jean F. (Dancer) McLaughlin and Russell A. McLaughlin.

He is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 50 years, Jane Marie McLaughlin; loving father of Christine (Drew) Hazelton of Oak Park, CA, Elizabeth (Matthew) Ehrhard of Vero Beach, FL, and Damon (Kimberly) McLaughlin of Spring Lake, MI; treasured grandfather of Elle & Peri Hazelton, Malone Ehrhard, and William & George McLaughlin; brother of James O. McLaughlin of Harbor Springs, MI and brother-in-law Gordon Starr of Columbus, IN; uncle to several nephews and nieces.
