of Chelsea, Michigan, age 79, died Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Chelsea Retirement Community. She was born May 11, 1936 in Battle Creek, Michigan , the daughter of Walter A. & Marguerite L. (LeBari) Scott. Shirley was an avid sports fan, and loved to watch them on TV. She had a few favorites in particular, the Detroit Tigers, University of Michigan for both football and basketball, and the Kentucky Wildcats for basketball. She loved animals, dogs and cats, especially twin tabby cats, Arthur and Barney. Shirley loved to walk around town, stopping in stores on main street, buying her lotto tickets, and going to the park.
Survivors include a sister, Pat Wellnitz; a sister-in-law, Bobbie Scott; several nieces and nephews; family friends, Donna Maynard, Kevin Maynard, Craig Maynard, Loise Knickerbocker; and treasured canine companions, Charlie and Graham. She was preceded in death by her parents and a twin brother, William Scott.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 25, 11:30 am at Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea, with Pastor Jerry Gould officiating. Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery in Chelsea. Memorial contributions may be made to the Huron Valley Humane Society.
