Obituaries

of Ann Arbor, MI, formerly of Dexter, age 74, died Monday, January 11, 2016 in Ann Arbor. He was born November 30, 1941 in Ypsilanti, Michigan, the son of Francis & Rita (Cobb)  Herrst. Lloyd lived in Dexter most of his life.  He was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church. He graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1960, and mowed cemetery lawns around Dexter for many years, including those of St. Andrew's, St. Joseph’s, and Forrest Lawn. He worked as a janitor in many places including a barbershop in Ann Arbor and for the Washtenaw Board of Education. He enjoyed photography and collecting salt and pepper shakers.

   On June 13, 1970, he married Barbara Goll, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 25, 2007. Survivors include; three brothers, Harvey (Joyce Ketler), David, Jim; his wife's siblings,  Shirrell (Marv) Fischer, Brenda (Ed) Stockwell, Mike (Joan) Goll, and Tammy (Jeff) Braunscheidel; and many nieces and nephews. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Louie Herrst.

   Funeral services were held Monday, January 18, 11:00  am at Cole Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Carl DeMeritt officiating.  Burial followed at St. Thomas Lutheran Cemetery, Ann Arbor.  The family received friends at Cole Funeral chapel Sunday, 2-4 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to United Cerebral Palsy.
