of Grass Lake, Age 70, died Saturday, October 3, 2015 at the University of Michigan Hospital. She was born December 28, 1944 in Chelsea, Michigan, the daughter of Arthur & Maxine (Irwin) White. Kathy loved her family, friends her church and the Lord. She also loved history and researching things! She researched her family history, gardening tips, the Bible pretty much anything she wanted answers to. She was kept going by her loving family (especially 3 sweet granddaughters) friends and her church.
She did love the work she did at the Law Library, she always had a neat story about a book that was sent somewhere fun! She had a bit of time to travel to California and overseas to Europe the last 6 years. She would find the good in everyone and was always kind even when she was frustrated (which wasn't often). She would give anyone the shirt off her back and buy them two more if they needed it. She was an amazing Mother, Grandmother, friend, cousin, etc. The world is a much better place because she was here! Even though it seemed early it was her time to go home to her Lord and savior and her beloved husband Ralph.
On April 6, 1974, she married Ralph Gunner Nilsen in San Francisco, and he preceded her in death on April 6, 2008. She is survived by two daughters; Corinna A. Nilsen of Pacifica, CA and Laura K. (Kevin) Osborne of Kalamazoo, MI; and three grandchildren, Ruah, Lillian and Mariah.
A memorial service was held Friday, October 9, 2:00 pm at Chelsea First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Joy Barrett officiating. The family received friends at the church Thursday 6-8 pm and Friday 1:00 pm until the funeral. Burial will take place at North Sharon cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chelsea First United Methodist Church, 128 Park Street, Chelsea, MI 48118. Arrangements by Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea.
