of Chelsea, Michigan, age 70, died suddenly Friday, September 25, 2015 in Jackson County due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born June 9, 1945 in Farmington, Michigan, the son of Irvin W. & Gladys (Watson) Steffens. Roger attended Chelsea High School. He farmed with his father all his life. Roger was an avid hunter and fisherman, and belonged to several hunting associations. He was active in tractor pulling. Roger was an animal lover, and he won many awards and trophies for showing his dogs.
Survivors include his mother of Chelsea; two brothers, Sherwin and Herschel; many cousins; and a special friend, Hattie Davis.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 2, 11:00 am at Cole Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Tina Zimmerman officiating. Burial followed at Vermont Cemetery in Sylvan Township.
The family received friends Thursday from 6-8 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
