Obituaries

of Manchester, formerly of Chelsea, age 71, died Monday, August 10, 2015 at her home with her family. She was born May 26, 1944 in Hudson, Michigan, the daughter of Donald & Florence (Huff) Murphy. Donna graduated from Hudson High School in 1962, and earned her Associates degree from Siena Heights in 1985.  After graduation, she started working for the University of Michigan in 1986, until her retirement in 2009.  Donna was an active member of Sharon United Methodist Church.  She and Dan were very involved in the Ann Arbor Ski Club.  Donna’s hobby was jewelry making, and she derived great joy spending time with her grandchildren and attending their various events.


On May 1st, 1993, she married Daniel Chambers in Ann Arbor and he survives.  Other survivors include a son, Donald (Helen) Cheney of Vandercook Lake; two daughters, Debbie Gillen of Dearborn Heights, Coelina (Glen) Byers of Adrian; 7 grandchildren, Josh Clark, Devin Cheney, Danielle Cheney, Erika Cheney, Andrew Cheney, Brandon Byers, Brittnee Byers; and two great-grandchildren, Mason and Kenton Clark.  She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Clifford Cheney; three siblings, Eulah Passmore, Marion Michaels, Bob Hunt; and a step-brother, Paige Hunt.

Funeral services were held Friday, August 14, at noon at Sharon United Methodist Church, 19880 Pleasant Lake Road, Manchester with Pastor Peter Harris  officiating.  Burial  followed at Rowe’s Corner Church Cemetery. The family received friends at the Fellowship Hall Thursday 2-4 & 6-8 pm and Friday 10am until 11:30 am. Memorial contributions may be made to Sharon United Methodist Church.
