Mildred Myra Huehl
of Chelsea, Michigan, age 91, passed away peacefully in her home in Chelsea on Thursday, May 24, 2018. She was born August 5, 1926 in Manchester, Michigan to Clyde and Hazel (Barnes) Gieske. Mildred graduated from Manchester High School as Valedictorian and attended Ypsilanti Normal College (EMU) obtaining a teaching certificate. She taught school in several one-room school houses in the Manchester area. She has maintained contact and a friendship with many of her original students throughout her years. On August 21, 1954 she married Earl Conrad Huehl and lived at the homestead farm on Fletcher Road. Mildred has been a life-long member of Sharon United Methodist Church holding many leadership positions, but most noted for her many years as a Sunday School Teacher. She was an active member of the Rogers Corners Farm Bureau and Women’s Extension groups. Mildred also volunteered her time to the Chelsea Senior Center. In her leisure time, Mildred enjoyed needlework projects, gardening, and playing cards or games with her many friends, family and neighbors. She was always available to help her friends and neighbors tackle projects or lend a helping hand. She retired from Unit Packaging in Ann Arbor.
