Kenneth Fultz

of Chelsea, Michigan, formerly of Scio Township, Dexter, and Holmdel, New Jersey, age 97, died Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at the Chelsea Retirement Community. He was born October 5, 1926, in Lenora, Kansas, the son of Charles August and Margaret Ethel (Everetts) Fultz.

Kenneth graduated from Atchins County Community High School in 1943, then the Kansas State University, where he earned his Electrical Engineering Degree. He went on to receive his Master's Degree from Kansas State University. Kenneth was an Electrical Engineer with ATT Bell Laboratories for 42 years (1952-1994). He was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Kenneth served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 - 1946. He enjoyed reading, playing chess with Audrey, tinkering around his home, and loved working in the yard and landscaping.

Charles King

of Manchester, Michigan, age 82, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 16, 2023, in Morehead City, North Carolina.

He was born on July 31, 1941, in Harlan, Kentucky, the son of John & Ethel (Hodge) King.

Chuck owned Bakers Dozen Bakery of Manchester, Michigan, for 25 years and then was head pastry chef for the University of Michigan until he retired.

Jerald Frisbie

of Jackson, MI, formerly of Chelsea, age 97, passed away peacefully Friday, December 15, 2023, at Legacy Assisted Living in Jackson. He was born October 27, 1926, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Homer W. & Ruth (Finton) Frisbie.

Jerry graduated from Plymouth High School in 1945. He then attended Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti. He worked as a manager at Wanty Shoes in Ann Arbor for about 30 years, retiring in 1988. He worked more recently at Pierce Lake Golf Course in Chelsea. He loved golfing with his best friend Sam all over Southeast Michigan. He was a member of the Chelsea Senior Citizens, and enjoyed their group trips across the country. Jerry and his wife of 74 years, Donna, especially loved traveling to his beloved “Up North.” He loved spending time with his five daughters, grandchildren, and many longtime friends. His hobby of painting watercolor pictures and notecards will now be cherished by all who received them. Jerry was also known for his quick puns, always ready with a joke for anyone and everyone. This made him popular at Legacy, endearing him to staff and residents alike.

Edrea Griffiths

Edrea Frances Griffiths of Dexter, Michigan, age 82, died December 18, 2023, at Hillside Terrace. She was born July 29, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of John Raymond and Edrea Frances (Lyman) Scudder.  Edrea will be remembered for her dedication to the youth of Dexter; she taught second, third, and fourth grade at Bates Elementary from 1967 to 1997, touching young lives across two generations. She continued as a volunteer in the Cornerstone Elementary library for another 20 years after her retirement. Edrea had a wonderful ability to remember her students when meeting them again later in life.

Norman Martin Wacker, Jr.

 

of Dexter, Michigan, age 91, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023, at his home. He was born August 25, 1932, in Chelsea, Michigan, the son of Norman Martin and Frances Lucille (Mangus) Wacker, Sr. Norm attended Whitmore Lake High School and was drafted into the US Army when he was 19, serving in Germany. He worked as a Machinist for Payne Products in Ann Arbor, and then retired from Federal Screw Works after many years. Norm liked to work on the farm raising horses, pigs, steer, chickens, and some row crops.
