Jean Storey
of Chelsea, Michigan. age 95. Jean was born July 30, 1923 in Ionia, Michigan, and passed away peacefully on November 21, 2018. She was the daughter of Robert R. & Virginia H. (Metzger) Weisgerber. Jean grew up on a dairy farm and was involved in all the activities you would expect her to be curious about. Jean graduated from Ionia High School in 1941, and then attended business school in Lansing, Michigan. She was employed by Michigan Bell in East Lansing while Bill attended Michigan State College (now MSU) from 1946-1949. Jean and Bill moved to Chelsea in 1950, and to Jefferson Street in 1961 where they raised a family and lived for fifty-five years. Jean was a wonderfully loving mother and homemaker. She was involved in the Girl Scouts, band boosters, and took her son’s Cub Scout Den on adventures to the Waterloo Recreation Area. Like many parents, she was the family’s driver’s training instructor, patiently coaching her children along one of the Chelsea areas gravel roads. Later, she was the receptionist at Dr. Joseph Krauss’ office in Chelsea. Jean was a member of Chelsea First United Methodist Church, where she was active as a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Sarah Circle, Christian Home, and choir. Jean was first president of the Chelsea Garden Club. She enjoyed the birds in her own beautiful garden and instilled a reverence for nature in all her children. Jean was a devoted friend to many, of all ages.
