Obituaries

of Chelsea, Michigan, age 55, passed away in her sleep in the morning of Thursday, October 22, 2020 at her home. She was born March 21, 1965 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the youngest daughter of C. C. “Cliff” & Doris Mae (Ahling) Hartman.  After graduating from Grass Lake High School in 1983, she went on to Jackson Community College where she obtained her Certified Nursing Assistant diploma. After working in assisted living communities in the Jackson, MI area, she found full-time employment at the Chelsea Hospital as a CNA. She transitioned from the patient care field into the position of Front Desk Operator and retired from the hospital with 25 years employment. Sharon was immensely proud knowing many doctors, nurses, and other staff members through her work at the switchboard. She also set a very high standard of dependability, work ethic, and customer service at the hospital.

Over the last several years, Sharon worked part-time at Stillion Industries in Chelsea. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting, hosting big dinners, being with her family, and ordering merchandise from catalogs. We were the recipients of various gifts and gadgets through the years as Sharon saw something “she thought we should have”.

In July, 1986, she married Keith M. Stillion, and for the past 19 years they lived on South Lake, Chelsea. In addition to her husband of 34 years, Sharon is survived by her loving sisters, Bonnie Milkey-Riggs, Sandra J. Pierce, and Beverly (Bill) Paul; mother-in-law, Shirley Stillion; sister-in-law, Linda Hudson; cousins, Carol Britten and Renee Thelen; many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, and her special friend, Missy Loring. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers-in-law, Larry Pierce and Thomas Riggs, father-in-law, Chuck Stillion, and great-nephew Charlie Paul.

Although Sharon was diagnosed at the age of 9 with Type 1 (Juvenile) Diabetes, she overcame many medical obstacles and lived a life of determination and resilience. She laughed heartily, loved deeply, and will forever be in our hearts.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 14, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at Cole Funeral Chapel in Chelsea. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends before the service at 10:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 20700 Civic Center Dr. Ste 100, Southfield, MI 48076.
