Anthony Ligi Sr. of Chelsea, Michigan, formerly of Hazel Park, Ann Arbor, and Clawson, age 89, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at CRC Towsley Village. He was born August 31, 1937, in Jessup, Pennsylvania, the son of Albert and Elsie (Sorbelli) Ligi.

Anthony graduated from Hazel Park High School and enlisted right away in the US Army, where he served for 3 years and was stationed in Okinawa. He retired as an Automotive Design Engineer and got to work in Japan (lived in Hiroshima for 3 years), China, England, Brazil, and Australia. A city boy from Detroit, Anthony enjoyed country living and rehabbed an old farmhouse. Anthony was a member of the United Methodist Church in Frankfort. He enjoyed working with the youth group and helping around the church with painting and mowing. Anthony was very outgoing and funny. He loved breakfast with his buddies, entertained many with his jokes, liked to get dressed up and go dancing, going on bus trips, and enjoyed socializing with everyone in the Chelsea Kiwanis. He also liked to golf, go fishing on his Lake Michigan boat, and watch movies.

Anthony married Marilyn Caldwell on July 30, 1960, in Royal Oak, and she survives; he is also survived by his daughters, Cheri (Tom) Harsh of Tipton, and Teri (Kevin) Canepa of Saline; son, Anthony (Judy) Ligi Jr. of Chelsea; sister, Pamela Calleja of Delaware; and grandchildren, Emily Ligi, Elizabeth Ligi, Jessica Ligi, Rachel Canepa, and Daniel Harsh. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Al Ligi; and sister, Jean Kessler.
