Obituaries

of Munith, MI, formerly of Chelsea, age 71, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at his home. He was born June 4, 1951 in Jackson, Michigan, the son of Charles “Bud” and Elaine J. (Ferry) Hafner.  Lloyd graduated from Chelsea High School in 1969. He served in Boy Scouts for 63 years. Lloyd was in Cub Scout Pack 55 and earned his Eagle Scout in 1968, with Boy Scout Troop 476. He was the Scoutmaster for Troop 465. With Troop 425, he was the Advancement Chairman and was on the District Advancement Committee for Eagle Scout. In Troop 425, he had helped 72 boys attain the rank of Eagle Scout. Lloyd was also the Committee Chairman of Cub Scout Pack 768 of Stockbridge. He received the District Award of Merit, and in 2010, he earned the Silver Beaver. Lloyd was a vigil member of the Order of the Arrow, and attended Philmont Scout Ranch with Troop 476. He retired from Polly's Country Market as receiving clerk. Lloyd was an avid fan of Michigan football and Detroit sports.

Lloyd married Margaret A. Haworth on June 29, 1974, in Ann Arbor and she survives. They divorced some years later, but always remained friends. Other survivors include his son, Kevin (BreAnne) Hafner of Jackson; his daughter, Jennifer (Bryan) Schipul of Munith; two brothers, Lee Hafner of Alabama, Anthony (DeAnna) Hafner of Jackson; one sister, Carol (Tom) Houle of Chelsea; one sister-in-law, Janet Hafner of Belleville; one brother-in-law, Robbie Canter of Ann Arbor; five grandchildren, Conor, Landen, Aidin, Dyllan, and Kerry who affectionately called him Boba; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lary & Bill; a sister-in-law, Janet (Hafley) Hafner; and a nephew, Christopher.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 20, at Cole Funeral Chapel in Chelsea, with Rev. Jeff Crowder officiating. Burial followed at Maple Grove Cemetery, with a luncheon immediately following at the Chelsea Train Depot. The family received friends Monday, December 19 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. The family asked that any Boy Scouts present, to please wear their Class A uniforms.
