of Chelsea, MI, age 96, died Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Chelsea Retirement Community. She was born June 5, 1922 in Mecosta County, Michigan, the daughter of Harold B. & Beryl M. (Abbey) Watson.  Edie moved to Chelsea in 1991, coming from Novi, where she had lived for 19 years.  She was a member of Chelsea First United Methodist Church, and a former member of the Novi United Methodist Church & St. Timothy United Methodist Church in Detroit.   She worked as a legal secretary, and later as a church secretary, working for Novi United Methodist Church, St. Timothy United Methodist Church, and the Detroit Conference.

She married Jack W. Chism in Saginaw in 1943, and he preceded her in death in 1956.  She then married Louis Scovill in Detroit on July  1, 1960, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 2002.  Survivors include one son,  John P. (Anita) Chism of Wixom; one step-daughter-in-law, Kathleen Scovill of CA; one sister, Geraldine Morse of Okemos; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathryn L. Chism; two brothers, Lyndon and Edwin Watson; and two step-sons, Donald B. Scovill and Gary A. Scovill.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 11, 10:30 am at  Chelsea Retirement Community (Towsley Village Chapel), with Rev. Tina Zimmerman officiating.  A private burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Chelsea.  Memorial contributions may be made to the UMRC Foundation.  Arrangements were entrusted to Cole Funeral Chapel.
