of Chelsea, Michigan, age 85, died Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at his home in Chelsea. He was born August 8, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of John & Marie (Kimbler) Fill.  John worked for Ford for more than 30 years, retiring in 1989.  He served in the US Navy from 1953 to 1957.  John was an avid hunter and fisherman, and lived on Lake Winnawana for many years.  He remained active in retirement, doing craft shows and wood working.  He also enjoyed bowling.

On Oct. 9, 1981, he married Gayle E. Toth in Westland, MI, and she survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Michele (Jeff) Balaka of Chelsea; a son, Jack Middlebrook of Chelsea; and 2 grandchildren, Mckenzie & Miller Balaka.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

PLEASE NOTE: The Celebration of John's life has been changed to Saturday, May 18, 3:00 pm at the Chelsea Church of the Nazarene, 12126 Jackson Rd, Dexter, MI 48130.  A luncheon will follow at the Chelsea Treehouse.  Memorial contributions may be made to Chelsea Church of the Nazarene, PO Box 389, Chelsea, MI 48118, or the Fischer House Michigan (Home for veteran families in Ann Arbor), 3250 Plymouth Road Suite 103, Ann Arbor, MI 48105.  Arrangements were entrusted to Cole Funeral Chapel.
