of Chelsea, Michigan, age 85, died Sunday, June 24, 2018 in South Lyon. He was born February 19, 1933 in Island View, Lakeview, Ohio, the son of Ralph & Dorothy (Fike) Line.  He graduated from Waynesfield High School in Ohio and attended Ohio Northern University. He was a welder, mechanist, and toolmaker all his life, as well as an Army veteran. He served in Hanau, Germany from 1953-1955. Jim loved antique tractors, steam engines, and stationary engines. Mechanically he was very skilled and creative and was always willing to help his neighbors by repairing farm equipment or design some new innovative solution.

Above all, Jim loved his family, and especially his grandchildren.  For many years, Jim faithfully attended the First United Methodist Church in Chelsea.

On July 25, 1953, he married Marilyn J. Cummings at New Hampshire, Ohio, and Jim was a devoted husband and loving caring caretaker. Marilyn preceded him in death in 2009.

Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer “Dawn” Line of Grass Lake; a son, Roderick (Barbara) Line of South Lyon; 4 grandchildren, Jared (Leslie) Wacker, Jennifer “Shevaun” (Jason) Atlee, Nathan “Nate” Line, Shannon Line; 3 great- grandchildren, Colin, Elizabeth “Libby”, and Bradley “Bo”; and a brother, Rex (Nevelyn) Line.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 30, 1:00 pm at Cole Funeral Chapel in Chelsea, with Rev. Jeff Ford officiating.  Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Waterloo.  The family will receive friends Saturday from 11 am -1 pm.  Memorial contributions may be made to the MDS Foundation, 4573 South Broad St., Suite 150, Yardville, NJ 08620.
