Barbara Springbornof Chelsea, Michigan, age 93, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018 at StoryPoint Memory Care in Saline, Michigan. She was born June 28, 1924 in Ann Arbor, Michigan and was the daughter of Thomas and Minnie (Stimson) Morrison. Barbara also lived in both Charlevoix, MI and Miami, FL as a child. She graduated from Miami High School and joined the WAVES in the US Navy during World War II. Barbara attended the University of Michigan for 1 year and then graduated from Michigan State University in 1949 on the GI Bill. On September 29,1949, she married Frederick Springborn at New York Avenue Presbyterian Church in Washington, DC,  and he preceded her in death on November 7, 2009. They were married for 60 years.

Barbara lived with her family in Washington D.C., Germany, 1954-1959, and then Silver Spring, MD. She moved with her husband Fred, to The Pines Apartments in Chelsea, MI in 2005. While at the Pines she was blessed by a special friendship with Charlene Taylor, who then became her dear caregiver.

Barbara was a member of New York Avenue Presbyterian Church in Washington D.C. and then Northwood Presbyterian Church in Silver Spring. She was actively involved in her church as well as volunteering at the Friends Nursing Home. She enjoyed her family, playing golf, games, horses, dogs, puzzles, and summer vacations in Michigan.

Survivors include a son, James (Martha) Springborn of Monroeville, PA; a daughter, Linda (Paul) Jamieson of Saline; four grandchildren, Amanda Jamieson of Boulder, CO, Kelly Jamieson of Edinburgh, Scotland, Kristina (Christopher) Nesensohn of Pottstown, PA, Jennifer Springborn of Monroeville, PA; and 2 great-grandchildren, Arianna and Danica Nesensohn. Barbara adored her granddaughters and they brought her such joy. She was over the moon to be a great-grandma. Her love for her family was boundless.  

   Barbara’s memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 10, 11:00 am  at the First Presbyterian Church of Ann Arbor with Rev. Melissa Anne Rogers officiating. Private burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery in Ann Arbor.  Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 1432 Washtenaw Ave, Ann Arbor, MI 48104.   Arrangements were entrusted to Cole Funeral Chapel in Chelsea.
