of Chelsea, Michigan, age 89, died Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Chelsea. He was born August 6, 1928 in Ann Arbor, the son of William & Myrtle (Sundel) Vogel.  Don graduated from Ann Arbor High School. He was a carpenter for 60 years with Local 512 and Detroit Local. Don was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, and traveling to visit family.

On May 14, 1949, he married Carolyn W. Wilke  in Ann Arbor, and she preceded him in death on December 16, 2008. Survivors include two sons, Tommy Vogel and niece Barbara Budoff of Chelsea, Jeffrey (Sherrie) Vogel of Katy, TX; one daughter, Marcia (Edward) Rautenkranz of Lebanon, MO; six grandchildren, Scott Vogel, Jason Vogel, Lisa (John) Judice, Gregory (Liz) Kennedy, Kelly (Sam) Miller, Jessica Rautenkranz; three great-grandchildren, Carolyn, Sloane, and baby Judice on the way; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and all 6 of his siblings.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 5, 3:00 pm at Faith Lutheran Church in Dexter, with Rev. Mark Porinsky officiating.  The family will receive friends at Cole Funeral Chapel in Chelsea Saturday 2-4 & 6-8 pm and at the church Sunday 2-3 before the service. Burial will be at Washtenong Memorial Park, Ann Arbor.  Memorial contributions may be made to  Faith Lutheran Church, 9575  N. Territorial Rd, Dexter, MI 48130.
