Obituaries

of Chelsea, MI, age 77, died peacefully Monday, September 26, 2016 near his bird feeder at his home. He was born January 6, 1939 in Metamora, MI, the son of John A. & Flora M (Shipp) Weber.

Paul has lived in Chelsea most of his life.  He played football for Chelsea High School, and graduated in 1957. Paul enlisted in the Army. He was active in the Chelsea First United Methodist Church, where he served as custodian for many years.  Paul worked at the Ann Arbor Fire Department from 1968 until his retirement.  He was an active member and past president of Chelsea Lions Club, where he received the Melvin Jones Award and several “Lion of the Year” awards. Paul worked part-time for Ernst Electric. After retirement, he enjoyed going to coffee with his friends. He did a lot of woodworking and enjoyed farming, especially with his children.

On Nov. 7, 1964 he married Joanne C. Derck at the Central United Methodist Church in Flint, and she survives. Other survivors include three wonderful children, James (Michelle) Weber of MS, Norman Weber of Chelsea, and Martha Weber of Jackson; and six grandchildren, Samantha Weber, Jessica (John) Cook, Alexis (Myles) McCalla, Harley Weber, JP Weber, Becca Friedman; two great-grandchildren, Brennen and Chase.

  A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 15, 11:00 am, at Chelsea First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Joy Barrett officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-11 am. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Chelsea. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chelsea Lions Club, P.O Box 121, Chelsea, MI  48118 or St. Joseph Mercy Hospice, 3075 W. Clark Road Suite 200, Ypsilanti, MI  48197. Arrangements by Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea.
