of Chelsea, MI, age 93, died Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. He was born January 16, 1923 in Buel Twp., Sanilac CO, MI (near Croswell, MI), the son of Lloyd and Wilma (Coleman) Turner.
Garrison served in the United States Navy during WWII. He worked in a factory in Detroit and worked for the Detroit School Board as a roofer for many years. Gary moved to Chelsea in 2003, coming from Brooklyn, Michigan.
On Dec. 30, 1950, he married Irene Mary Drozd in Detroit, and she preceded him in death on May 29, 2008. Survivors include three daughters, Maryann (James) Slone of Chelsea, Eileen (Mike) Becker of Winnetka, CA, Judy Settle of LaGrange, KY; three sons, Paul (Connie) Turner of Waterford, MI, Gregory Turner of San Francisco, CA, and David (Marie) Turner of Panama City, Panama; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Don of Huntington Woods and Sidney of Croswell, MI; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly on Tuesday, August 2, 12:30 pm, with Rev. David Turner officiating. Arrangements by Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea.
