Obituaries

of Chelsea, Michigan, age 57, died Sunday, May 8, 2016 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital after a short & valiant fight with lung cancer. She was born May 10, 1958 in Traverse City, MI, the daughter of John Junior & Maudie Samantha (Stafford) Scarbrough. Debra was a graduate of Pioneer High School class of 1976. She worked 37 years at various companies in Ann Arbor in the printing industry. Debra had spent the last few years as a realtor with Reinhart Real Estate in Chelsea. Debra bowled many years at Belmark & Chelsea Lanes. She loved being outdoors and camping. She enjoyed her family, her kids, her grandkids, and her little dogs, Izzy and Floyd.  

   On October 3, 1981 she married Edward “Mick” L. Sayers, Jr. in Ann Arbor, and he survives.  Other survivors include her children, Mike (Laura) Sayers of Chelsea, Allison (Clint) Morvant of Chelsea; three brothers, John (Rita) Scarbrough of Ann Arbor, Tim (Georgianna) Scarbrough of Grass Lake, Kevin (Beth) Scarbrough of  Mason; 2 grandchildren, JJ, Zack; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Janette “Nettie” Scarbrough.
            
   A celebration of her life was held Saturday, May 21, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, at Cole Funeral Chapel.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 403 Seymour Ave, Lansing, MI 48933.
