Obituaries

Passed away peacefully at the Chelsea Retirement Community.  All of her children were able to bring comfort and peace to her passing.  She was also remembered in the prayers of many, for which we are very thankful.  Ellen was born in Neenah, WI to Arthur & Ethel Cuff.  They also lived in Texas, St Petersburg, FL, and Detroit, MI.  It was in Detroit that Ellen got her Nursing Degree from Ford Hospital.  She met her future husband, Clarence, there.  They were married in Saline, MI and it became their home as they raised four children.

Ellen has been a member of the Saline First Presbyterian Church since moving to Saline.  She was instrumental in the building of Saline Hospital and was very respected as a nurse, church leader, and neighbor.  She attended the University of Michigan at 45 and earned a Public Health Nursing Degree with honors.  This culminated in a job with the Ann Arbor School System as a school nurse.   After semi-retirement, she and Clarence bought land near Traverse City, and built a cottage which has been a source of joy for family and friends.

Ellen is survived by her sister, Isabel (Hank) Boomer; her children, Richard (Polly) Johnson, Arthur Johnson, Doris (Ernst) Siegmann, and David (Millie) Johnson; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous other dear relatives.

Donations are being accepted for Arbor Hospice, the Chelsea Retirement Community Employees Fund, or the charity of your choice.  Her memorial service was held Saturday, February 20, 2:00 pm at the Main Chapel of the Chelsea Retirement Community.
