Obituaries

of Chelsea, Michigan, formerly of Palm Harbor, Florida, age 90, died peacefully Friday, January 22, 2016 at his home. He was born April 28, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Smith Gilroy & Margaret (McGill) Graham. George served in the Unites States Navy, and was stationed in the Pacific during WWII.  He graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from Wayne State University, and a Masters in Education from Eastern Michigan University. George was a skilled upholsterer for the first 25 years of his marriage. He then taught Junior High School in Crestwood and Brighton Area Schools, retiring in 1986. George attended the First Presbyterian Church of Ann Arbor, and Palm Harbor United Methodist Church in Palm Harbor Florida. He was an avid musician, skilled at organ, piano (as an accompanist), and sang in Choir and Barbershop. George was also an avid swimmer.  

He married Glendora Neff , on June 24 1949, in Detroit. He is survived by his wife of 66 years; two children, David Graham of Chattanooga, TN, Kathy (David) Falkner of Ann Arbor; a sister, Anna Janowicz; 4 grandchildren, Perrin (Kevin) Graham-Jackson and Caili Graham, Nathan Falkner and Adam Falkner; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother James. 

A memorial service and celebration of his life was held Thursday, April 14, 3:30 pm, in the Maple Room at Silver Maples of Chelsea.
