Obituaries

Of Manchester, Michigan, age 76, died Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the University of Michigan Hospital. He was born October 6, 1939 in Detroit, the son of John G. & Dorothea May (Flood) Hanna.

King graduated from Chelsea High School in 1957, and Eastern Michigan University in 1966. He graduated from Methodist Theological School in Ohio in 1970, and was ordained a United Methodist minister.  King served as pastor at many churches, starting as a student pastor at Wellsville UMC, then as an ordained pastor at Westside UMC in Ann Arbor, Grace and Skandia UMC in Marquette, Mitchell UMC in Negaumee, and Marble Memorial UMC in Milan.  He retired in 2003, and served as interim pastor at several churches. King served on the Institutional Review Board for Marquette General Hospital and Trinity Health System. King was a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary for over 40 years.  He spent his life helping people and could talk to anyone.

On June 7, 1963, he married Anne Marie Buss in Manchester, and she survives. Also surviving is his sister-in-law, Janice Steinhauer; brother-in-law, Paul Buss; niece, Michelle (Patrick) Cameron; nephew, Matthew (Kellie) Buss.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother, Josephine (Fisk) Hanna, and his sister-in-law, Lucille Buss.

A memorial service was held Saturday, January 30, 10:30 am at Chelsea First United Methodist Church. The family received friends at the church Friday, January 29, 2-4 & 6-8 pm. A graveside service will take place at Park Cemetery in Marquette, Michigan at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Methodist Theological School in Ohio for scholarships for seminary students.
