Obituaries

Age 90, went to be with the Lord Monday, November 23, 2015, peacefully with her family at her side. She was born February 15, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Emil & Emma (Marek) Trelenberg. Helena graduated as Salutatorian of Romulus High School in 1942. During WWII, she worked for the Red Cross at Romulus Air Force Base.  After the war, she worked as a private secretary for Great Lakes Steel and Ford Motor Company.  After her children were grown, she worked in the Pharmacy and Insurance Office of Ypsilanti State Hospital for 8 years.  She has been a Missouri Synod Lutheran all of her life, and was a Sunday School teacher, member of the Alter Guild, and sang in the choir most of her life.   Since coming to Chelsea in 2006, Helena and Harvey were members of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Chelsea.

   On May 29, 1948, she married Harvey Lentz at St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Boston,  and he survives.  Other survivors include a daughter, Patricia (Charles) Hillebrand of Atlanta, GA; two sons, Paul (Alice) Lentz of Bowie, MD, Dan (Cynde) Lentz of Pinckney; her twin brother, Kenneth (Shien Hwa) Trelenberg; 5 grandchildren, Stephanie (Judson) Farmer, Kristen (Carl) Cushman; Lisa (Ty) Bosnjak, Michelle (Thomas) Weikle; Dan (Terra) Lentz; 6 great-grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews.  She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ida Swantek, Esther Boswell, and a brother Walter Trelenberg.
   Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 30, 11 am at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Chelsea, with Rev. Dale Grimm officiating.  Burial followed at Oak Grove East Cemetery in Chelsea.  The family received friends at Cole Funeral Chapel Sunday, Nov. 29, 1-6 pm, and at the church Monday, 10-11 am.  Memorial contributions may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1515 S Main St, Chelsea, MI 48118.
