Obituaries

of Plymouth, Michigan, age 91, died peacefully at University of Michigan Hospital on September 10, 2015. Joe was born on April 4, 1924 in Youngstown, Ohio to Floriano and Spreanza (Valentino) Valle. He was the younger brother of Theresa Williams and Frances Ameduri. Joe was a first generation American and was proud to be “full blooded Italian.” In 1942 Joe graduated from Rayen High School in Youngstown and later from Youngstown College.

He served as an Army Air Corps medic during WWII in China, Burma and India. After the war Joe married  Bette M. Funkhouser. She preceded him in death in 1975. Bette and Joe raised 3 sons as he pursued his career at Republic Rubber in Youngstown and Aeroquip Corporation in Jackson, MI.  Joe is survived by his longtime companion, Carol Mook of Plymouth; his sons, Joseph A. Valle, Jr. (Mary) of Ann Arbor, Robert Valle (Ann) of Chelsea, MI, and Jeffrey Valle of Sycamore, IL; 4 grandchildren, Laura, Nick, Alex and Maggie Valle; as well as 3 great granddaughters. Cremation has taken place, he fought the good fight. Arrangements by Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea.
