of Chelsea, MI, age 85, died Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Chelsea Retirement Community. She was born June 10, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of William Lawton & Martha Louise (Schmidt) Connolly. A graduate of Mackenzie High School, Caroline was the reunion chairperson for six years. Caroline worked for 17 years at Michigan Bell Telephone. She was a member of the Nardin Park United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was very active. Caroline cooked for the Nardiners Senior Citizens group. Many years ago, she served as President of the United Methodist Retirement Homes Friends, as well as an ex-officio trustee on the United Methodist Retirement Communities Board.
She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Glendon R. Schlott. Other survivors include a daughter, Janet (Robert) Jaeger of Jackson; a grandson, Karl (Nicole) Jaeger; three great-granddaughters, Kaitlyn, Madison, and Mackenzie; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Vera (Harry) Weitzel, Ruth (Robert) Watson; two brothers, William (Helen) Connolly and James (Blythe) Connolly; one niece, Judi Tweeten; two nephews, Phillip Connolly and Donald Connolly; and her first husband, Orville Gundlach.
A memorial service was held Saturday, August 22, 2:00 pm at Chelsea Retirement Community, with the Rev. Cathy Rafferty officiating. A fellowship tea will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to United Methodist Retirement Communities Foundation. Arrangements by Cole Funeral Chapel.

I'm so sad to hear about this! Your mom was so very special to me growing up.! She was like my other mom when things got tough at home! I knew on Sundays she was always there with huge smiles and a hug.
She will be greatly missed.

My sincere condolences at this time. I have so many memories of the good times growing up on Champaign! Carol kept in touch with me thru yearly Christmas cards until just a few years back.
