Obituaries

of Dexter, MI, age 96, passed away on March 4, 2015, at home after a lengthy illness surrounded by family. She was born on November 11, 1918 (Armistice Day) in Detroit, MI to Michael and Anna (Najalowach) Holowach.  They were Ukrainian immigrants (1913) who owned and operated a neighborhood grocery store.   When she was a young child her family purchased a farm in Clinton, MI (1927).  She graduated in 1937 from Clinton High School.

She married Leonard Socks October 1, 1938, in Clinton, MI.  They were married for 63 years and were long time Dexter, MI residents and members of the Dexter United Methodist Church.  

She is survived by three sons; James (Evelyn), Jerry (Joyce) both of Dexter and Donald (Tammy) Socks of Chelsea; seven grandchildren Christine Sherman of Tecumseh, MI, Michael (Susan) Socks of Cabot, VT, Matthew Socks of  Burlington, VT, Kelly (Gary) Colon of Naples, FL, Jennifer (David) Lambers of Otsego, MI, Melissa (Robert) Hambrock of Suamico, WI, Mark Socks of Mason, MI; and a godson Hal Rudnianin; eight great grandchildren, Ethan and Jonah Socks, Genevieve and Alexander Sherman, Derek and Kara Colon, Katie and Allison Lambers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leonard (2002), beloved daughter Darlene Hoey, brother Matthew (Eleanor) Holowach and an infant sister; and a special cousin John (Anna) Brelish.

Anne worked for Lyndon Color Labs of Dexter for several years and enjoyed tole painting, ceramics, cooking and her vast collection of cookbooks.

In accordance with her wishes a private family service and interment were held at Riverside Cemetery in Clinton, MI.  Memorial donations may be made to Dexter United Methodist Church, 7643 Huron River Drive, Dexter, MI  48130; Arbor Hospice, 2366 Oak Valley Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48103; or the charity of your choice.
