Martha J. Hofmeister, born to Maurice and Jessie Shanklin on October 14, 1933, went peacefully home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, February 13, 2015 at age 81.
Martha was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church until her health declined over the past two years. She loved taking care of people and routinely filled every need that she could. She tutored voluntarily in a couple different schools giving children some much needed individual help and offering some extra love to their lives. She loved to crochet and provided wedding and baby gifts to many people. She loved her Lord, her family, and her church family very much and will be sorely missed by so many.
On August 31, 1958, she married Everett “Wayne” Hofmeister, and he survives. Other survivors include a son, Steve Hofmeister; daughters, Janice Hofmeister, Ann (James) Hess; two grandsons, Mitchell and Roman Hofmeister; one great-granddaughter, Aubrey; one expected great-grandson; nieces Terry (Dave) Davis, and Pat (Mike) Ellington, great-nieces, Katrina Davis and Christeena Divine; great nephew, Michael Lacy; and great great niece Carman (Travis) Roach as well as many, many cousins and “honorary children” that called her Mom or Grandma.
She was greeted in Heaven by her parents, Maurice and Jessie Shanklin; sister & brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Richard Gullion; great niece, Jennifer Lacy; great nephew, Richard Duviver; many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and beloved friends.
A memorial service was held Thursday, February 19, 11:00 am at Faith Baptist Church, Chelsea, with Pastor Adam Summers officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Baptist Church, 3040 Kalmbach Rd, Chelsea, MI 48118. Arrangements by Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea.
