Obituaries

of Chelsea, Michigan, formerly of  Detroit, age 97, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014 in Chelsea.   He was born April 27, 1916 in Detroit, the son of Clarence and Mabel (Forler) Wade.  

    On Feb. 17, 1962, he married Alberta Frances Hosking in Detroit, and she preceded him in death on March 28, 2008. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Williams, sisters- and brothers-in-law, Christine (Thor) Jurgensen of Farmington, Mary Elizabeth (Eugene) Kress of Ft Wayne, IN, Clara Mathie of Waverly, OH, and William D. Hosking of Warren. Survivors include a sister, Gwen Connelly of Wichita, KS; a brother-in-law, Gordon Mathie; a God-son, Thor Sandell; a God-daughter, Kierstin Sandell Drzal; and many nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services were held Saturday, April 5 at 10:30 am, preceded by a half-hour visitation at Chelsea Retirement Community’s main chapel, Rev. Stanley Eckermann officiated.  Burial took place at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.  The family received friends Friday 6-8 pm at Cole Funeral Chapel.  Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church.


    Bob retired from Barry Steel in Detroit. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, and a former member of  Salem Lutheran Church in Detroit. Bob was also active in the Chelsea Hospital Auxiliary. He was a good and decent man, with a generous heart and a cheerful, optimistic spirit. He was a wonderful husband, brother, uncle, great-uncle and great-great uncle.  He will always be loved, remembered and greatly missed.
